2009 Place Game Season Underway
Omaha by Design (ObD) is sponsoring The Place Game, a series of workshops to help neighborhood associations and other groups brainstorm improvements to public spaces in their corner of the city.
During the workshop, trained facilitators lead small groups through the areas they have selected for analysis, asking group members to take note of what they see, hear and feel. The groups then brainstorm to identify opportunities for improvement and identify potential partners who could help bridge the gap between an idea and reality in their community..
In addition to supply materials and trained facilitators, ObD provides the host organization with assistance promoting the workshop and summarizing group input in a report. The host organization will identify the locations for analysis, provide a meeting space and find a minimum of 15 people to make Place Games a success.
All groups that complete a Place Game workshop and apply for grant funding in 2009 will receive a free tree and assistance with site selection and planting.
ObD conducts workshops from March through October. For more information, contact Teresa Gleason at (402) 554-4011.
