City of Omaha to Kick-Off SunDawg Program June 9
City of Omaha's Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Property has announced details for the 2008 summer SunDawg program. The program is a free summer camp for Omaha youth ages 6-15 and is hosted in public parks Monday through Friday from June 9 - July 31. Registration for SunDawg will take place at a kick-off party on Friday, May 30, at Elmwood Park, 808 S. 60th St., from 6 - 8 p.m.
The goal of the SunDawg program is to provide Omaha youth with the opportunity to have a fun, enjoyable and safe summer, while building confidence, self-esteem and problem-solving skills. The program features many activities, including arts, crafts, games, sports, swimming, field trips and special guest visits. All activities are overseen by qualified and trained staff.
The SunDawg program is a collaboration of local organizations including the Omaha Public Library, Skateland, Western Bowl-Bowling Center, Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo, McLean Ice Arena and the Omaha Royals Baseball Association.
